Ladies Night - Lodge Anchor of Hope

The ladies night of our Lodge was held on 13th December 2003. The usual custom of holding this in October had to be shelved due to various reasons and the choice of holding it in December did not work out well-only 6 ladies and 2 children could attend the function. A private party elsewhere in our little town of Coonoor prevented some of the ladies from coming to the Lodge as also the examinations for the children held some others back.

After the usual business within the Lodge, after the 3rd Rising, the Lodge was called off and the ladies welcomed into the Lodge. The Worshipful Master welcomed the ladies with a few words whereupon he called on the undersigned-W. Bro. George Jayaprakash- to address the ladies. George Jayaprakash then  explained in detail the basic administration of the Grand Lodge, the District and the Private Lodge thereafter explaining in brief the significance of the officers seated in their respective chairs of office. He also gave a detailed explanation of the degrees in non-Masonic terms and explained why and how 'secrecy' in Masonry had affected the families and the how the society viewed Masonry and also gave details to dispel the misgivings in the minds of the families and the public. He then read a letter which is given as an attachment to this mail extracted form a Masonic Journal which the ladies and the Brethren found very useful. The ladies were then passed out of the Lodge and then the Lodge resumed and closed in due form.

Thereafter there were enough games for all present organised by W. Bro. K. Badrinarayanan and Bro. H.B. Jaiprakash. Following this everyone adjourned for  banquet at which time the caretaker of our Lodge was given his usual Christmas gift of 1 months salary.

An interesting evening came to an end with everyone assembled departing in peace and harmony.

-Bro. (Dr) George Jayaprakash, PDSGD
