Platinum Jubilee Celebrations The Lodge Archibald Campbell EC 4998 celebrated its platinum Jubilee on the evening of 7th February 2003 a the Hotel Park Sheraton. The celebrations were attended by over 250 Masons from the District grand Lodge of Madras who were in Madras in connection with the Annual investiture meeting of the DGL of Madras. Over 70 Ladies were also present during the celebrations making the event unique and rare and obviously a trendsetter in Masonic celebrations. Celebrations commenced with the Lodge being duly opened in the first degree while 2 DGMs (The RWDGM of the District of Madras and the RWDGM of the district of bombay and North India) were present in the temple when it was being opened which in itself being a rare distinction. The Lodge was called off to invite the ladies into the temple and the celebrations started with Masons dressed in their ceremonial regalia, the ladies were welcomed with the brethren upstanding.. The WM of the Lodge Wor. Bro. H. L. Ratan welcomed the gathering and specially the ladies and requested the RWDGM RW Bro K. R. N. Menon of the District of Madras to declare the felicitation function open. The Lodge had received a speech on audio tape from WB Colin Campbell the younger son of Sir Archibald Campbell which was then played for the benefit of those present. A memento (silver plate) was given to all brethren who have bene members of the Lodge for over 25 years as of the date of the celebration and a scroll to all Past Masters of the Lodge was also presented. WB S. L. Chitale presented the memento and the scroll to the RWDGM K. R. N. Menon who is himself a Past master of the Lodge and also a member of the lodge for over 25 years. The following brethren received their mementos / scrolls from the RW DGM RW Bro. K. R. N. Menon. The other members who were Past Masters and also members of the lodge for over 25 years: C. Rajaraman Brethren who have been members of the lodge for over 25 years: Vasudev Sharma Other Past Masters of the lodge Verghese Chummar SOUVENIR : A Souvenir which also comprises a short history of the Lodge from its consecration, which had been compiled from official records. Wor. Bro. S.L. Chitale released the souvenir by handing over the first copy to Wor. Bro. Dr. James Campbell. R.W.D.G.M. handed over a copy of the book on the CAUVERY RIVER Project to Wor Bro. Dr. James Campbell, with an appropriate introduction for the benefit of the gathering, as to the relevance of the book to the Campbells. The following brethren felicitated the Lodge on its Platinum Jubilee Wor.Bro.G. Rangachari - President, Board of General Purposes Wor.Bro.K.V.Srinivasan - District Grand Secretary There were many other brethren from the gathering who felicitated the Lodge on its Platinum Jubilee. The Vote of thanks was given by the WM WB H. L. Ratan. Bro. D of C then escorted the Ladies outside while the brethren were upstanding the Lodge was then called on. The Master asked Bro. Secretary to record the earlier felicitation proceedings and to attach them to the official minutes of the meeting.
the Lodge was then closed and the brethren joined the ladies outside the temple to witness a short play by Past master Ejji K. Umamahesh and his team and later at dinner.
