LODGE ANCHOR OF HOPE NO. 1093 EC-WELLINGTON

CHARITY STEWARD REPORT FOR THE LODGE

W. Bro. (Dr) George Jayaprakash Dy DGDoC and Lodge Charity Steward

“Bag of Rice a month and vegetables for the poor”

Soon after W. Bro. M. Gopalakrishnan was installed as the Worshipful Master on 19th Feb 2005, he expressed his thoughts aloud to me on the above subject. With his enthusiasm being so high, I worked out the logistics and now we have the following scheme on the anvil:

  1. We will donate a bag of good quality rice (50 or 75 kgs.) each month to 12 deserving institutions this Masonic year-institutions like the ones catering to the needs of the physically challenged, senior citizens homes and the like.
  2. We will choose 4 elderly and poor couple living near our lodge premises, who will be given 3 to 5 kgs of fresh vegetables every fortnight for the full year.

As a sequel to this, our first donation of rice was given to the, Senior Citizens Home maintained by the Little Sisters of the Poor in Coonoor on the 9th isn’t. an hour prior to the regular meeting. The Worshipful Master, 3 other Brethren and I went over (in our DJs!!) and handed over the rice to the sister-in-charge, a gesture appreciated by them very much.

Every month, a few of us will go to each of the chosen institution and hand over the rice personally. The funds for these two schemes are from our Charity Funds and also from donations ear-marked for this purpose from our Brethren-the first one was given by a brother who was celebrating the birthday of his grand-daughter.

These are our programs for the next 12 months and it is our prayer that TGAOTU will grant us the resources and the strength to continue these programs.
